A Calling to Sing

My primary place of ministry is serving as a worship leader two two-hour sets a week at the International House of Prayer's Hope City Prayer Room in Kansas City. As a worship leader, I help lead many in prayer crying out for a breakthrough of revival in the inner city.

Right now, God is training many prophetic singers. The Day of the Lord is approaching when Jesus will return to the earth bringing justice to the nations. Jesus will not come in a vacuum. He will come in response to His praying church (Revelation 22:17). Prophetic singers will have a vital role in His return. In Isaiah 42:10, God calls the nations to sing a new song to the Lord. In response to the new song from the prophetic singers, “The Lord will go forth like a mighty warrior, He will stir up His zeal like a might man of war.”

Consider King Jehoshaphat. When the Assyrians went to invade Israel, he had a secret weapon:

²¹…[King Jehoshaphat] appointed those who were to sing to the LORD and praise him in holy attire, as they went before the army, [they said], “Give thanks to the LORD, for his steadfast love endures forever. ²²And when they began to sing and praise, the LORD set an ambush against the men...who had come against Judah, so that they were routed. -2 Chron. 20:21,22

Like in Jehoshaphat’s day, God wants to use singers again to destroy works of darkness in regions and cities all over the earth. I am glad to be one in training (and in actual ministry) with many others in the body of Christ.
